Resisting Happiness is written by Matthew Calley and it’s published in 2016. It can show you the way how to enjoy your life and how to be more Happiness and Optimist. In this book, we can see the tips to help us make the decision way more to be Happy and Optimist. This book gives you a session about the road the happiness and how can we handle the things that we suffered on the way. It also gives you some kind of questions and makes you think what is your feelings and how to deal with them.

What is the meaning of happiness?

I think it must have a lot of definitions for everyone. Since we are not the same and the things that we want to have, the goals that we try to reach are different one way or another. So happiness can be a lot of meaning for us. It can be a success and it can be money for someone and it can also be dignity and fame for somebody. In my opinion, happiness is satisfaction. I think people are burned with worry and stress. Believe me or not I am also one of them. We used most of our time with worries and taking too much stress. Having too much stress is not good for our mental health.

Like I said above most of us are living our life with other people’s expectations like our parents, family or siblings. If we have been failed to their expectation we feel like we are not good enough and in some cases, some of the people in our societies tell us we are not good enough and we don’t deserve to be happy. It’s not right. This is our life and the other doesn’t have the right to judge us. If you are feeling unsatisfied and worried about something you need to read this Resisting Happiness book.

Is Happiness just a short time?

I am also once to be the one who thinks happiness is just a short time and even though happiness is close-by, I was still worried about the future before I read this book. After I read Resisting Happiness I feel like the load on my shoulders are lifted and I start to learn that we can create our happiness. We need to live our life to the fullest since happy times or sad times are just a period that can make us stronger.

In this, the author teaches us how to deal with our emotions and how to get true happiness.

The best 3 things I got from this book is

  1. Money is not everything in our lives and we can’t buy happiness with money.
  2. Try to spend more time with yourself
  3. Fill your surroundings with the people who truly care about you.

Lesson 1: Money is not everything

Most people think money can make us happy and sometimes they even mentioned that as a second god. Most of the time it can be right. But we can just buy the short time happiness with money. Let me tell you an example. If you have a lot of money and you can buy whatever you want in the blink of an eye. But you won’t get satisfied with your action and you also don’t know these things are necessary for you. If they are not then you just waste your money. Maybe you like those things when you are shopping and when you get home you aren’t interested in those things anymore. So you think you got the feeling happy when you are shopping and after you came back the happiness disappeared in a short period.

Lesson 2: Try to spend more time with yourself

This fact is hard to do because we are living in the 21st century where technology is more developing day by day. If you think you are spending your time with a smartphone and laying in your bed means spending the with yourself is right. Then let me tell you it’s a big wrong because you are still communicating with others through a smartphone. I am not saying that developing technology is bad. But there is also the dark side. These days, most people spend a lot of their time on social media.

Spending too much time on social media is not good for your mental health. Some people got depression and end their life because of those. So if we ever decided to spend our time with ourselves then we must turn off our phone for that moment. And read a lot of books to heal yourself. Our Lord Buddha says everyone is mad or a little bit crazy in something or somehow. But we must balance our mental health by reading books. There is a saying I like the most is Books can bring us to the other world and I agree with that.

Lesson 3: Your Surrounding is Matter

In this one, I want to fill that list first with the family. You know the family is the most precious one that you can ever get in your life. Whenever you did right or wrong, they always give support to us. And they also tell us the good things to do. You will always have them as your back and they will never leave you behind. And as a second has a good teacher who can guide you and show you to do the right things. Some of the teachers can show it as a better way of loving and caring for someone. As a last, you need to fill your surroundings with your true friends.

True friends will give you their support and they also show the right ways when you are in the wrong ways. Like I said you need to maintain these kinds of friendships in your life. And a last fill your surrounding with an optimistic person. You know the good energy can go from one to the another. If you start to see the things that happened around you as a positive then you will not get sad too long and it can also relieve your stress.

Conclusion

Life is a long journey. We need to live our lives in every moment to the fullest since we don’t know what will happen the next day. So we need to enjoy every day in this world even though we think we are not good enough. You can try your best and the rest you need to leave at god’s hand.

Life is a long journey and we need to live our lives in every moment to the fullest since we don’t know what will happen the next day.

The perspective of the life-changing. And the purpose of life. And how to be a better person. How to overcome the insecurity and anxiety. How to control our mental health.
